Dissemination and Awareness of Measurement
~ Is the child meter for electricity, water, gas, etc. within the validity period? ~
Unlike meters (parent meter *) owned and managed by a supply company such as electricity and water, a child meter is used for allocating utilities expenses between managers and residents in rental buildings, condominiums, dormitories, etc. It is a measuring instrument.
Since these child meters have a validity period of the certification by the Measurement Law, uncertified products or those whose validity period has expired cannot be used for settlement of fees.
Type | Validation period |
---|---|
Electrical meter (for general use) | 10 years or 7 years |
Electrical meter (with transformer) | 5 or 7 years |
Gas meter (city gas and propane gas) | 10 years or 7 years |
Water meter | 8 years |
※ A parent meter is a measuring instrument that each resident has directly contracted with suppliers (Tokyo Electric Power Company, City of Yokohama, Water Works Bureau, etc.) in office buildings, commercial facilities, and apartment. When the expiration date is approaching, the supplier will notify the user and replace it.
