Last Updated March 28, 2024
This is the site of Health Sanitation Division, Health and Safety Department, Yokohama City Public Health Center. We provide information on the hygiene of household goods.
In order to prevent health damage caused by household goods such as baby clothes and underwear, household goods such as laundry detergents and aerosol products, the Health Sanitation Division Department of Health and Safety at Health Centers conducts inspections of household goods from dealers in the city. In addition, as a result of inspection, we provide guidance such as discontinuation of sales of products that violate the standards.
What is a trial purchase?
In order to check the safety of commonly distributed products for household goods for which standards such as the content of harmful substances are set based on the "Law Concerning the Regulation of Household Goods Containing Hazardous Substances", a household goods hygiene monitor Entering a store where household goods are sold and purchasing for inspection is called "trial purchase."
The purchased household goods will be inspected at Yokohama City Inst. of Health to see if the standards are met.

In fiscal 2023, we entered 15 dealers and purchased a total of 64 samples, including 55 textiles (baby clothes, glue decorations, etc.), 1 leather goods, and 8 household chemical products (home adhesives, household aerosol products, etc.). As a result of the test, one sample of household chemical products (house cleaning agent) did not conform to the standards for containers stipulated by the Act on the Regulation of Household Goods containing Hazardous Substances. As a result of conducting a removal inspection of the same product for the product, it was determined that it was a violation because it did not conform to the standards, guidance was given to the sales company of the product to stop selling, and the manufacturer of the product was responsible. Information was provided to the local government.
