Every year from July to October, consultations are sent to Health and Welfare Center every day, "What should I do?"
At that time, the nests are often getting bigger, and you have to entrust extermination to a specialized contractor, which costs a considerable amount of money.
Until the first worker bee emerges from April to June, it is a time when nesting is nesting with one queen bee, so if you can find the nest during that time, you can exterminate relatively safe and costly. .
In order to reduce the cost burden as much as possible, make sure to check places where nests are easy to build (see "Places to Create nests") in early spring (April to June)!

From April to June, let's check around the house!

Places where nests are easy to build

  • Inside the ceiling, in the wall (hornet only)
  • Under the floor, in the door pocket (wap only)
  • Inside fences and plantations
  • In a wooden cave (hornet only)

When checking the nest, be careful not to approach the nest suddenly, do not shake, and make no noise nearby!

If you find a nest.

Let's deal with it while you're small! If the nest is left as it is, the nest will grow larger and the number of worker bees will increase. In that case, it becomes difficult to get rid of it, and it costs money to get rid of it.

When exterminating

About consultation desk

Health and Welfare Center does not exterminate nests, but we provide consultation on hornets and paper wasps, provide guidance to extermination companies, and lend protective clothing and extermination equipment when exterminating yourself. For more information, please contact Health and Welfare Center Health Sanitation Division.
For information about bees, please refer to the leaflet "Beware of beehives! (PDF: 1,791KB) ”(updated in June 2022).

About insecticide

For insecticide, please purchase something exclusively for bee removal or flies and flies (including pyrethroids as active ingredients) at a nearby supermarket or pharmacy.
Recently, insecticide exclusively for bee controlling bees has been sold. The injection power is strong, and the drug injects linearly about 3 to 5 meters. If the drug hits it, the bee will eventually fall (be careful as some injection time may be short.) 。
When using insecticide, be sure to inform nearby houses and nearby people that they will use chemicals to control bees.
For more information on extermination of paper wasps, please see the page on "Waste Eradication".
