Shinmeidai disposal site

The landfill site at Shinmeidai was completed on March 31, 2011, and will be properly managed until landfill's technical standards for abolition are satisfied.

High-performance waterproof sheets are laid on the bottom and slope of the landfill so that rainwater (leachate) that has passed through the garbage layer does not contaminate groundwater.
In the 7th Phase II landfill, a double sheet consisting of a sheet containing asphalt that is hard to perforate and a high-strength soft polyethylene sheet with excellent chemical resistance, a Ben night self-healing sheet that swells when water is contained in the middle, and a nonwoven fabric that protects water-resistant sheet are arranged above and below to ensure high safety. Furthermore, the bottom surface is equipped with a water leakage detection system so that damage to the impermeable sheet can be found, and the leachate from landfills is monitored to prevent contamination of groundwater.
In addition, water collection pipes are placed on all sides at the bottom, leachate that has passed through the waste layer is collected, advanced treatment at a wastewater treatment facility, turned into clean water, and released to rivers.

We have set up retarding ponds to prevent floods caused by heavy rains, and are working to protect and green natural forests.

We have developed sports facilities and other facilities using areas where landfills have been completed and the ground is stable, and are temporarily open to local residents (Izumi Ward, Seya Ward and Asahi Ward).
