What is oversized garbage's collection?
For elderly people living alone or people with disabilities who are unable to take oversized garbage to designated locations, we provide support for garbage collection at home.
Target person
Those who are living alone who fall under any of the following and have difficulty in cooperating with their families and close people and cannot take oversized garbage to the designated location. In addition, even if there is a cohabitant, it is eligible if the cohabitant falls under any of the following, such as the elderly or younger.
- Those who have been issued a certificate of the physically disabled
- Those who have been issued a notebook of love
- Those who have been issued the Mental Handicapped Health and Welfare Handbook
- Those who have been certified as requiring nursing care (support required) by The Long-term Care Insurance
- Those who are 65 years old or older who cannot take out garbage
- Pregnant women or injured persons who have been approved by the office manager
Not applicable
The following items or items are not subject to collection by oversized garbage.
- Prohibition of emissions stipulated by Yokohama CityYokohama City General Waste Treatment Implementation Plan)
- Business-related general waste
- General waste generated by felling garden trees by landscaping companies, etc., and repairs by contractors, etc., which were carried out for a fee.
- oversized garbage, which cannot be taken out of the doorway without disassembling with tools or moving other furniture.
- oversized garbage, which cannot be taken out without using ropes or heavy equipment.
How to apply
Please apply to the Resources and Waste Recycling Bureau office in your ward by telephone or other means.
Reception hours: Monday to Saturday (including holidays) 8:00 am to 4:45 pm
We will check in advance whether or not you are eligible.
Please note that it may take some time from reception to collection, and the collection date may not be possible to meet your request.
Notes
- If it is determined that a preliminary inspection is necessary for the subject requirements or large furniture, etc., the Resources and Waste Recycling Bureau office will visit your home and conduct a preliminary survey.
- In the case of collection, in principle, the target person or the applicant must be present.
- On the day of collection, please sign or seal the confirmation document about the contents of the take-out collection.
- Yokohama City will not be liable in principle if the goods at the target person's home are damaged due to a simple work accident.
- oversized garbage collection fee will be charged the same amount as usual oversized garbage collection.
※There is a system to reduce fees for households receiving welfare, specific Chinese residual Japanese who receive life support benefits, severely disabled people, severely mentally disabled people, severely mentally disabled people, elderly people requiring severe nursing care (65 years or older) to which they belong, single-parent households receiving the Welfare Medical Certificate, and elderly people living alone who are difficult to carry in themselves (aged 70 and over).
