Mercury measurement results in exhaust gas at waste incineration plants

With the mercury air emission regulations that began on April 1, 2018, we are measuring mercury in exhaust gas from garbage incineration factories.

How to check the measurement results

Based on the fact that mercury emissions are influenced by the mercury content in raw materials and fuels, the mercury emission regulations are set as regulations that capture the average emission status during normal times. Therefore, unlike other regulations on air pollutants under the Air Pollution Prevention Act, sudden exceeding the standard value does not violate the emission standards.
If a concentration exceeding the emission standard is detected, re-measurement at least three times, and out of a total of four or more measurement results, including the first measurement result, excluding the maximum and minimum values. Evaluate based on the average of the results.
Also, if the first measurement result exceeds 1.5 times the emission standard, carry out within 30 days from the first measurement result was obtained, and if it is 1.5 times or less, within 60 days, obtain the results It has been with.
If the evaluation after the re-measurement value exceeds the emission standard value, contact the local government's responsible for the Air Pollution Control Law, investigate the cause, and take measures to prevent recurrence.

Maintenance records of waste incineration plants

In accordance with the provisions of Article 9-3, Paragraph 6 of the Waste Management and Public Cleansing Law, the garbage incineration plant publishes information on the status of maintenance (smeasurement results of soot and smoke). You can see it from the Incineration Plant page (link).
