Yokohama Urban Design Vision

Yokohama City has been working on urban design for nearly half a century, including the launch of an urban design team within the agency in 1971. Yokohama's urban design is based on the philosophy of "creating a human city with charm and individuality," and has achieved many results, including the creation of a community-based symbol tree conservation, the creation of Bay Bridge, Promenade, Waterfront Square, and the historic conservation.
The Yokohama Urban Design Vision verifies and rearranges examples of past efforts so that individual lives and Yokohama can be enriched as individual lives and the situation of Yokohama become more complex and diverse. It summarizes important ideas that should be shared, such as values, and what the city design administration should work on in the future.
In the future, we aim to share this vision with many people and to work on urban design on a daily basis in various situations such as individual activities and community development.

The Yokohama Urban Design Vision (draft) summarizes important ideas for future urban design. Based on the current changes in society, the city design activities that Yokohama City has been working on for many years have been rearranged, and perspectives, values, and approaches have been described.

Basic Concept of Urban Design
○It has an important "point of view" when envisioning the future scenery of the town.
○We share the "values" that are important when creating the scenery of the town.
○With the "how to approach" of urban design activities, everyone will realize it as a landscape of the town.

In line with the concept of the Yokohama Urban Design Vision, based on the concept of "OPEN! Urban Design", more people are interested in urban design, consider their lives and cities as one-stop, and envision and realize rich landscapes. It has been held since 2015 to encourage people to work on realizing it. We aim to open "open" as a place where a wider range of participation is possible, deepen mutual understanding, and provide opportunities for new activities.

Higashi-Jun Yamada Industrial Area has issues due to mixed housing and engineering (mixing living environment and operating environment). In recent years, with the change in the industrial structure in society, the purpose of land use in the region has changed, and the number of residents has increased, and issues due to mixed housing and engineering (mixing the living environment and operating environment) have been emerging. Therefore, OPEN MEETING! was held in this area to discuss and discuss the future direction and potential of mixed housing and engineering areas, and how to approach them.
