Use of the former site of Toukyu Toyoko Line

Last Updated November 15, 2021

Through mutual direct operation between Minato Mirai Line and Toukyu Toyoko Line, Higashi-Hakuraku Station and Yokohama Station in Toukyu Toyoko Line have been underground, and the route between Yokohama Station and Sakuragicho Station has been abolished. In order to improve the migration and revitalize the area in central Yokohama, the underground section has been completed as a green road (park), and the abandoned line section will be regenerated as a promenade. We are proceeding with maintenance.

1) Underground section (between Higashi-Hakuraku Station and Yokohama Station)

It has been developed as a green road (park) to form a network of promenades with the surrounding Mitsuzawa Seseragi Green Road, Takinogawa Seseragi Green Road, and Kanagawajuku Historical Road. The maintenance completion section has been opened sequentially, but the Takashimayama Tunnel section has been opened on April 16, 2011, and the entire line has become available.

2) Closed lines (between Yokohama Station and Sakuragicho Station)

In order to improve the migration and revitalize the area in central Yokohama, we are examining and maintaining it based on the concept of regenerating it as a "promenade". On July 16, 2014, we opened the West Exit Square of Sakuragicho Station, which opened the site of Sakuragicho Station on the Toyoko Line.
In order to become an attractive facility that is welcomed by citizens, we will examine a wide range of maintenance contents at the top, the old station building, and the use of space underpass.

  • Area approximately 13,000 m2
  • Approximately 1.8 km in length
  • Width: 7 to 10m
