Use of the former site of Toukyu Toyoko Line

Last update date November 15, 2021

By mutual direct operation between Minato Mirai Line and Toukyu Toyoko Line, the area between Toukyu Toyoko Line's Higashi-Hakuraku Station and Yokohama Station was decommissioned. The site that occurred along with this will be completed as a green road (park) in order to improve migration and revitalize the area in central Yokohama, and the abandoned line section will be regenerated as a promenade. We are proceeding with maintenance.

1) Underground section (between Higashi-Hakuraku Station and Yokohama Station)

It has been developed as a green road (park) to form a network of promenades, such as the surrounding Mitsuzawa Seseragi Green Road, the Takino River Seseragi Green Road, and the Kanagawajuku Historical Road. The maintenance completion section has been opened sequentially, but the Takashimayama Tunnel section was opened on April 16, 2011, and all lines have become available.

2) Abandoned line section (between Yokohama Station and Sakuragicho Station)

In order to improve the excursion and revitalize the area in central Yokohama, we are examining and maintaining the basics of regenerating it as a "promenade". We have maintained the ruins of the Toyoko Line Sakuragicho Station building and opened Sakuragicho Station West Exit Square on July 16, 2014.
In order to become an attractive facility welcomed by citizens, we will examine a wide range of maintenance contents at the upper part, the old station building, and the space underpass, etc.

  • Area approx. 13,000 m2
  • About 1.8km long
  • Approx. 7 to 10m
