About movement, storage, return of abandoned bicycles

Bicycles and motorcycles are very convenient vehicles, but if left in public places such as roads, they will hinder the passage of people and emergency vehicles, and will adversely affect citizens' lives.
Therefore, Yokohama City enacted the "Ordinance on Prevention of Leaving Bicycles (External Site)" in 1985, and based on the ordinance, has moved abandoned bicycles and motorcycles to storage locations based on the ordinance.

In Yokohama City, the area around each railway station has been designated as "bicycles are prohibited areas", and bicycles and motorcycles left in the area are moved with emphasis. By installing signs in areas such as around the station, we are well known.

• Designated station
  As of April 1, 2021: 117 stations (out of 138 stations)

Abandoned bicycles and motorcycles (in principle, 50cc or less) are subject to movement.
※Abandonment refers to a condition in a public place other than a place where parking is allowed and cannot be moved immediately because the user is away from a bicycle.
Bicycles and motorcycles (50cc or less) placed on roads outside the no-parking area are eligible for movement if they have been left for more than 7 days.
In accordance with the regulations, impounded bicycles motorcycles are stored in storage areas.

Users and owners of the moved bicycles and motorcycles should be picked up at the storage area.

The storage period is 2 months from the date of transfer. Items that have passed the storage period will be disposed of.

• Collection time at storage location
  • Tuesday to Friday: From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday　　　　　： 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

※Returns are not available on Monday, Sunday, public holidays and their transfer holidays and New Year's holidays (December 29 to January 3).

• Fees
  • Bicycle: 1,500 yen
  • Bike: 3,000 yen
• Keys for bicycles and motorcycles
• Identification of the person (driver's license, insurance card, etc.)

※In addition to the above, please fill out the “Application for Returning Abandoned Bicycles, etc.” at the counter. No private seal is required.

Moved bicycles and motorcycles can be referred to the storage location using the anti-crime program registration number, sign number (license plate), etc.
