Movement, storage, and return of abandoned bicycles
Last Updated June 6, 2024
Bicycles and motorcycles are very convenient vehicles, but if left unattended in public places such as roads, it will hinder the passage of people and emergency vehicles, which will adversely affect citizens' lives.
Therefore, in Yokohama City, the "Ordinance on Prevention of Leaving Yokohama City Bicycles (outside site)" was enacted in 1985, and based on the ordinance, bicycles and motorcycles that have been left unattended have been moved to storage locations.
Designation of prohibited areas for bicycles, etc.
In Yokohama City, the area around each railway station is designated as a "bicycle-free area", and bicycles and motorcycles left in the area are mainly moved. By installing signs in areas such as around stations, we are disseminating them.

About movement
Abandoned bicycles and motorcycles (in principle, 50cc or less) are subject to movement.
※Leaving is a condition in which it is placed in a public place other than the place where parking is permitted, and the user is away from bicycles, etc., so it cannot be moved immediately.
Bicycles and motorcycles placed on roads outside the no-parking zone are subject to movement if they have been left for more than 7 days.
According to the regulations, impounded bicycles Motorcycles are kept in storage areas.
Storage and Return
