Yokohama City Design Manhole Cover

Yokohama City has installed various types of design manhole covers for the purpose of visualizing the sewer and revitalizing the area.
The Japanese design manhole cover is called "art on the street" and is attracting attention not only from Japan but also overseas.
For the purpose of revitalizing the area and attracting customers to Yokohama, we have also installed a design manhole cover that is familiar to citizens and cooperate with professional sports teams based in Motoichi.

（１） Center Minami Station to Tsuzuki Ward   government office sidewalk (4, Chigasaki Chuo, Tsuzuki-ku) 8 locations
（２） Center Kita Station Station Square (1-40, Nakagawa Chuo, Tsuzuki-ku) 4 locations

It was set up in February 2024 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Tsuzuki constituency system.
Logo mark in the center was decided by inhabitant of a ward vote in November 2023.

It is easy to recognize that it is the 30th anniversary of the constituency system, and is expressed in an easy-to-read character arrangement.
It is decorated with primrose, a flower of Tsuzuki Ward  .

In March 2023, it was installed on the sidewalk next to the Kamishirane Junior High School West Gate Soba Gymnasium in Kamishirane Junior High School (Asahi Ward), which closed at the end of 2022.
The design is engraved with the opening date, closing date, school badge, etc.

Near Motomachi Park

The manhole cover with the Bay Bridge pattern was decided by a vote of a citizen monitor from a number of candidates in order to change from the previous geometric pattern to a friendly design that expresses the uniqueness of Yokohama. With the center of the Bay Bridge, a symbol of Yokohama, the surrounding area is designed with a ship's steering wheel, representing the "expanding port and future". Colored Bay Bridge lid is rare and is installed near Motomachi Park.

Near Kitanaka-bashi Bridge (on the sidewalk in front of Kitanakadori Kita Daiichi Park)
Address Near 6-chome Kitanakadori, Naka-ku, Yokohama

On July 26, 2019, one manhole cover featuring the Environmental Planning Bureau water environment character "Kaba no Dai-chan," was installed in the Port Opening Memorial Plaza (1 Yamashitamachi, Naka-ku, Yokohama).
After that, it was relocated near Kitanaka-bashi Bridge (on the sidewalk in front of Kitanakadori Kita Daiichi Park) on February 28, 2022.

The manhole card (Daichan pattern) of Yokohama City has been distributed at the Sakuragicho Station Tourist Information Center since August 6, 2019.

Sakuragicho-sta. Square

The Pokemon manhole cover was installed in the summer of 2019 to commemorate the holding of the "Sewer Exhibition '19 Yokohama" and "Pikachu Mass Occurrence Chu!"
This is the only manhole cover in Japan that expresses the skyline, one of the representative landscapes of the Minato Mirai 21 district.

Around Kannai Station

It is located around Kannai Station, the nearest station to Yokohama Stadium, the home of Baystars.
The design of the lid emphasizes the harmony of the scenery in front of the station, and uses a part of the Baystars logo to make it a calm color.

Between Shin-Yokohama Station and Nissan Stadium
Address Near 2-chome and 3-chome Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama

The Marinos manhole cover is installed between Shin-Yokohama Station and Nissan Stadium.
The lid design uses a part of Marinos' character "Marinos-kun", and arrows provide directions to the stadium.

The Manhole Summit is an event specializing in manhole covers, and is held every year with the Sewerage Public Information Platform (GKP), an organization launched by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as the secretariat.
You can learn about the manhole cover and the world of sewerage that spreads beyond that, such as holding a sewerage facility tour at the same time.

GKP and local governments cooperate with each other as a communication tool to deepen understanding and interest in sewerage.
It is published all over the country, and is distributed in Yokohama City.
