Nambu Sludge Treatment Plant is a facility that treats and recycles sludge generated during sewage treatment at the Water Reclamation Center.
Sludge from six water reclamation centers is transported by pipeline and processed in Nambu Sludge Treatment Plant.
The sent sludge is concentrated and then put into the digestion tank, decomposing organic matter in the sludge to generate digestive gas and reduce the amount.
The reduced sludge is dehydrated and then incinerated, and the generated ash is recycled as a raw material for construction materials.
In addition, a portion of the dewatered sludge is used effectively as a substitute for fossil fuels by carbonizing it at low temperatures.
Site area | 123,900m2 |
---|---|
Sludge treatment capacity | Approx. 14,700m3/day |
Processing method | Concentration → Digestion → Dehydration → Incineration → Effective use of ash |
Start of consolidation processing | November, 1989 |
Efforts for Environmental Measures
Sewage sludge is incinerated and low-temperature carbonized to make it safe and hygienic.
Initiatives for a Recycling-Oriented Society
In the digestion tank, sludge is decomposed by the action of microorganisms to generate digestive gas mainly composed of methane gas.
The generated digestive gas is used as an auxiliary fuel for incineration and is used for power generation.
The generated power will be used on-site and renewable energy using the feed-in tariff system for renewable energy.
This is sold to electric power companies.
In-house power in Nambu Sludge Treatment Plant is the electricity generated by digestive gas power generation, and the adjacent waste incineration plant, Resources and Waste Recycling Bureau Kanazawa Works.
It is provided by the power generated in the field.

When using Seaside Line Namiki-Kita Station
Get off at Namiki-Kita Station, exit the ticket gate, and turn left.
Proceed toward Exit 2.
Go down the stairs at Exit 2.
Go on while looking at the Kanazawa Wastewater Treatment Plant gate to the right.
After walking for a while, you will reach the Koura 1-chome intersection.
Cross the pedestrian crossing with Namiki-Kita Station behind and turn right.
After walking for a while, you will find the gate of Nambu Sludge Treatment Plant on your left.
I'll enter the gate.
After entering the gate and going straight, you will find the administration building on the right.
There is an office on the second floor of the administration building.
The sludge incineration ash stored in the site due to the effects of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011 reached approximately 25,000 tons at one time, but due to the conversion of a part of construction material, The storage status of incineration ash is as follows. (As of October 31, 2019)
Type | Quantity | Remarks |
---|---|---|
Incinerated ash | Approx. 17,300 tons | Sludge incinerated ash is stored with approximately 30% moisture. |
(as of November 2019)
When constructing underground, make sure that the sludge pipe is close to each other.
