About redevelopment of roads around Minato Odori Avenue and Yokohama Culture Gymnasium

Last Updated June 27, 2024

Overview of the redevelopment of roads around Minato Odori Avenue and Yokohama Culture Gymnasium

In both the Kannai side area and the Seki outside area, large-scale facilities will continue to be located for the realization of "international industry-academia collaboration" and "tourism and attracting customers", and it is expected that the increase in visitors will create even more bustling areas in the district. You. These large-scale facilities, such as the Minato Odori Avenue and the access lines to Yokohama Culture Gymnasium, are a series of lines that improve migration between the facilities and improve the integration between the Kannai area and the Seki area, along with the green axis connecting the Odori Park and Nihon Odori Avenue.
On the other hand, at present, the roadway is wide and parking on the street is conspicuous, the existing sidewalk is narrow, and in view of the increase in the number of visitors in the future, pedestrian pools are not enough at intersections. For this reason, the existing road space will be redeveloped based on the use of roadsides, such as narrowing the width of the road and expanding the pedestrian / bicycle traffic space, and the safe and comfortable pedestrian network will be strengthened and expanded. We will strive to create a continuous bustle along the road.
