Facility overview and floor guidance

Facility Overview

The Tozuka Library is located on the first floor of the Tozuka Center. The second floor is the Tozuka district center and the third floor is public hall.

  • Date of establishment/November 1, 1978
  • Total floor area: 3,386 square meters
  • Number of books for personal lending 166,716 books (including 42,408 children's books) / 21,777 books for group lending (of which 12,424 children's books) (as of March 31, 2023)
  • Number of journals / 85 magazines (including 29 donated) / 18 newspapers (of which 7 were donated) (as of March 31, 2023)

There are multipurpose toilets (for ostomates) and baby seats (for diaper changing).

Floor guidance

General book floor

Newspapers and magazines

  •  On the day of the month, there are newspapers for the current month and the previous month. Since the last two months, it is stored in the library for one year.

      Compulsed editions of newspapers (Asahi Shimbun, February and March, 1978 (Showa 47), January 1978 (Showa 47), January 1978.
      Nihon Keizai Shimbun, 1990 (after January 1990) can be found in the reference book or library.
      Please use newspapers and newspaper compact editions only in the building.

  •  Please use the latest issue of magazines only in the museum. You can borrow back numbers.

Reference books
 There are encyclopedias, newspaper compact editions (Asahi Shimbun, Nihon Keizai Shimbun), various yearbooks, various white papers, dictionaries, pictorial books, etc.
 Please use it only in the building.

Local materials
 We collect books and administrative materials that can learn about Totsuka Ward, Yokohama, and Kanagawa.
 You cannot borrow books with the label "inside the building" or "reference book". Please use it only in the building.

Foreign language materials
 There are novels and utility books written in Chinese, Korean, and English, and foreign language translations of Japanese novels.
 In addition, we collect information on living in the city for foreign citizens, books introducing Japan, and reference books for learning Japanese.

Large print book
 I have a collection of books written in large print.

Paperback book
 I'm collecting small books.

Large books
 We collect large books with large formats such as complete works of art.
 The house map is also available in the large book corner.
 Some wards (Tozuka, Izumi, Sakae) in Yokohama are located at the counter, so please request at the first counter.

 

Teens corner

We collect books and novels in fields of high interest in teens from junior high school to high school teens.
There are books on various themes, such as books on school life, career and work, books on hobbies such as music, sports, cooking, etc., introductory books in each field, novels, etc.

Children's Book Floor

Picture book 
 There are picture books such as folk tales and folk tale picture books, story picture books, and knowledge picture books.
 Monogatari picture books are arranged in alphabetical order of the name of the person who drew the picture.

Picture book corner I meet for the first time
 It is located in the corner of the picture book and picture-story show corner.
 We have collected picture books recommended for 0-year-old babies who meet picture books for the first time to 2-3 years old infants.

   It is a pamphlet distributed at Health and Welfare Center 4-month-old child medical examination. Introduction of children's songs and picture book list for children aged 0 to 3 years old
   Library information useful for parents is posted. (Issued on February 1, 2009)

Picture book corner for reading
  In particular, we have collected picture books especially suitable for reading stories to groups.
  Make use of the product for reading volunteer activities.

  We publish story-telling volunteer handbook "let's expand the world of books" distributed at the library (pdf format, 2.2MB).

Picture-story show
 The title is lined up in alphabetical order. You can rent a picture-story show at counter 3.

Large picture book, large picture-story show corner
  We collect picture books and picture-story shows that are about 40cm to 50cm in length and width.

Story
  Japanese authors and foreign authors are lined up in the author's syllabary.
The first story corner
  I have collected books for children who read stories on their own for the first time.
A little book
  Books to check are arranged in order of classification number.

Magazine
 We have children's magazines. Please use the latest issue only in the building. You can borrow back numbers.

Reference books
 There are books to examine, such as encyclopedias, yearbooks, pictorial books, and dictionaries. Please use it in the museum as it cannot be rented.

Local materials
 We collect books that can learn about Totsuka Ward, Yokohama and Kanagawa.
 Books with the labels "inside the building" and "reference books" cannot be borrowed, so please use them in the library.

Foreign language books
  There are picture books and stories written in foreign languages, such as English, Korean / Korean, and Vietnamese.

Children's Book Study 
 From general books, we select and collect books related to children's books and books related to children's reading. This corner is recommended for those who are interested in children's books.

After entering the library entrance, it's on your right. Each counter is responsible for the following tasks.

Reading seats

There are 41 reading seats on the general book floor and 16 seats on the children's book floor. You do not need to apply for it.

User search machine

You can find out if the books or magazines you are looking for at the Tozuka Library or other Yokohama City Library.
In addition, you can check the usage status of your library card, apply for book and magazines, and extend your loan.

How to use

  • Please apply at the counter number three.
  • Reservations are accepted at counter 3 only for the day of the event.
  • One application can be used for 30 minutes, and can be used three times per person per day.
  • The National Diet Library Digital Transmission Service is available only to registered users of Yokohama City Library.


Precautions

  • Limited to browsing the website for the survey.
  • It is not possible to send or receive emails.
  • Storage media such as USB memory are not allowed to be brought in or used.
  • It is not possible to print out. The online database and the National Diet Library Digitized Material Transmission Service can be applied for copying within the scope of copyright and default.
  • Use of personal computers such as chats, games, posting on bulletin boards, word processors, etc. are not allowed.
  • Downloads, software installations, program modifications, and changes in various settings are prohibited.
  • Access to sites that are offensive to public order and morals is prohibited.
  • Some sites cannot be viewed due to the filtering software.
  • Please use the Internet at your own risk.

Enlarged reading device

After entering the library, it's near the reading seat on the left. Characters and images can be enlarged and projected on the display, contrast can be adjusted, black and white inverted, and anyone can adjust easily.

It's located in front of the Tozuka Center building, on your left.

When the library is closed, please return only books (excluding materials with disks such as CDs and materials ordered from outside the city) to book return box. However, it is not available during the year-end and New Year holidays.

It will take some time for the post book to be returned. If you would like to borrow a book on the same day, please return it to the counter in the library.
