Regional Information Corner

In addition to news from Yokohama City Hall and Sakae Ward government offices, there are information on events such as community care plazas and district centers, as well as flyers and pamphlets for various events organized by civil society organizations.

Please apply at the counter to view housing maps such as Sakae Ward.
Road maps for rental can be found in the "General Book Corner" on the second floor.

Internet terminals

We have installed two personal computers that allow users to view the Internet.
In addition to the information on library materials, it can be used for various research, such as obtaining the latest information from the Internet.

Children's book

Picture book corner

Picture books are divided into three categories: "story picture books", "knowledge picture books" and "small picture books".
"Story Picture Book" and "Small Picture Book" are in alphabetical order of the painter's surname.
"Knowledge picture books" are lined up according to themes such as insects, trains, and crafts.
The picture-story shows are arranged in color-coded by the first character of the title.


There is also a "First Picture Book" corner where picture books for 0 to 3 years old.
If you are wondering what book to read for a small child, please use this corner.
Books recommended for small children are introduced in "Yokohama City Library Kids Page Picture Books to Enjoy on your knees."


A book of knowledge

Insects' books, train books, and craft books…This is a corner where you can find books on knowledge.
It is arranged according to the theme.


Story corner

It is arranged in the order of the first character of the surname of the person who wrote the story.
There is also a "First Story" corner where books for children in the lower grades of elementary school are collected.
The book in the story corner for the first time is introduced in the book list "First Time Story".


In addition, in the "Let's Read this book" corner, books recommended for elementary school students are collected. Grade seals are attached for each subject, so please refer to it when selecting books.


Local materials corner

We have materials written about Sakae Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa, etc.


Search corner

There are pictorial books and dictionaries.
Please check in the library, so please check in the library.
There is also a reading seat exclusively for children (up to junior high school students), so you can use it when you do research.


Foreign Language Book Corner

We have collected children's books written in English and Hangul.
Why don't you read the picture books you read in English and Hangul for children as well as adults?

This is a corner where you can collect materials about children's books.
A list of picture books and children's books, books on reading methods, and research books on children's literature.

General book corner

Teens corner

It's not enough in the corner of the children's book corner, but in the general book corner, there are too many books and I can't find a book that fits me. This is a corner where you can collect books for such teenagers.
We have books on various themes, from books on school life, career, and work to introductory books for each subject, books on hobbies such as music, sports and cooking, and novels.


Paperback book corner

This is a corner where you can collect paperback books.


Reference book corner

This is a corner where you can find dictionaries and white papers. Please note that you can't borrow it, so please check in the library.
Reading seats (32 seats) are also available for research.

If you use a personal computer or calculator, please use the personal computer seat (2 seats) in front of the conference room.


Local materials corner

This section contains information on Sakae Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa, etc.
We collect materials and administrative materials that allow you to know the local history.
Books related to Sakae Ward are introduced in the Sakae Library Book List.


Large print book corner

This is a corner where books written in large print (large print) are collected for easy reading.


Foreign Language Book Corner

In addition to novels and utility books written in English and Chinese, there are also materials such as living information in Spanish and Portuguese.


Magazine corner

This is a corner where magazines are collected. The latest issue cannot be borrowed, so please check it in the library.

Large book corner

This is a corner where large-scale materials such as art books are collected.
Lending is also possible.


Other Information

There is a courtyard behind the children's book corner on the first floor, and a terrace at the back of the reference book corner on the second floor.
This is a space where you can eat and drink, so please feel free to use it.
Please be sure to bring your garbage with you.

It is a place to bring books that are no longer needed at home and exchange them with residents of the city.
It is not a recycling of books in the library.

Usually, it is used for meetings and library events.
Only when not used as a meeting room, it is open as a reading room (30 seats).

The transliterator will read the desired material. Advance reservations are required for use.

There are five on the first floor and three on the second floor, and there are user search machines for library materials.
If you don't know how to use it, please ask the counter on the first floor.

There is a magnifying reading device on the second floor. If you have difficulty reading characters of normal size, please feel free to use it.
In addition, magnifying glasses (loupes) and reading glasses are available at the counter on the first floor (only in the building).
If you need it, please let us know.
