From October 2021, with the introduction of the online qualification confirmation system at medical institutions, etc., medical institutions where the system was introduced, if the individual agrees and the application category can be confirmed with the system, the limit application certificate (for tax-exempt households do not need to present a “Certificate of application of the limit and reduction of standard burden”). (It is not necessary to update in August every year.)
※Paper limit application certificates can also be used as before.
What is an online qualification confirmation?
This is a system that allows you to check the qualifications of medical insurance that you have subscribed online using the IC chip of your My Number Card or the symbol number of your health insurance card at the counter of a medical institution or pharmacy.
As a general rule, the introduction of an online qualification confirmation system has been required by medical institutions since April 2023. A list of medical institutions that have introduced the system can be found on the website of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

※Caution※
Those who fall under the following need to apply for a limit application certificate.
・In the case of medical institutions that do not have an online qualification confirmation system
・Municipal tax-exempt households who have been hospitalized for more than 90 days in 12 months before the application date will receive further reductions in dietary allowances
