About child safety, accident prevention

Last Updated January 19, 2024

Have you ever tried "hiya" at home?

The causes of death of children are often "inadvertent accidents" such as accidental ingestion of toys and drowning in baths, and even if they do not die, they occur frequently in daily life.
Knowing where the accident is likely to occur and reviewing the environment around the child can reduce the risk of "unforeseen accidents".
What can we do to raise children in a safe and secure environment? Let's think about it.

Specific examples of child accidents

1.Accidental ingestion of pharmaceuticals, detergents, cosmetics, etc.

Attention points

1.Eating and drinking, such as pharmaceuticals and detergents, can cause serious symptoms.
2.Store detergents, cosmetics, bath salts, etc. that look similar to pharmaceuticals and foods in places that are not visible to children or out of reach.

2.Accidental ingestion of packaging films, stickers, etc.

Attention points

1.If you put or bite the packaging film of a confectionery or plastic bottle in your mouth, you may accidentally swallow or accidentally swallow the debris and suffocate it. The same applies to stickers played by older children and stickers attached to packages.
2.Don't play with packaging film, stickers, containers, etc.

3.Accidental ingestion of button batteries, water absorption balls, magnets, etc.

Attention points

1.Accidental ingestion of button batteries can lead to serious injury if it gets stuck in the esophagus or stays in the stomach. For equipment using button batteries, fix the cover so that the battery cannot be removed.
2.Accidental ingestion of a resin absorbent ball may cause intestinal obstruction.
3.Accidental ingestion of multiple magnets can cause magnets to stick across the intestinal wall and cause intestinal obstruction.

4.Ingestion of tobacco, alcohol, etc.

Attention points

1.Accidental ingestion of tobacco or alcohol can cause severe poisoning.
2.Store tobacco and alcohol in places that are not visible to children or out of reach.

5.Sleep with a lie, and your face is buried in soft bedding.

Attention points

1.Put it in a crib as much as possible, not an adult bed, and use hard bedding such as mattresses and mattresses.
2. Until you are one year old, lay down on your back when you lay down.

6.Suffocation with kakefuton, clothes on the bed, stuffed animals, and Stai.

Attention points

1.Kakefutons use light things that children can get away and don't wear them on their faces.
Let's do it.
2.Cover the mouth and nose, or wrap around the neck, near the face of a sleeping child.
Don't put anything on it.

7.It is sandwiched between the bed and the wall

Attention points

1.It moves around while sleeping, and the head and face in the gap between the adult bed and the wall or the rear fence.
Put it in a crib as much as possible so that it does not catch it.
2. Infant bed guards attached to adult beds are babies less than 18 months old.
Never use it for children.

8.It is squeezed by part of the family's body

Attention points

When you sleep, let's sleep in a crib as much as possible so that you can sleep together and unintentionally fall asleep, and do not squeeze part of the adult's body when sleeping with the same bedding.

9.Drowning when taking a bath

Attention points

1.When an adult washes his hair, take the child out of the bathtub.
2.Drowning accidents have occurred during the use of floats.
Don't use it in a situation where parents keep their eyes off.
3.When you get out of the bath, take your child out of the bathtub / bathroom first.

10.Burns from tea, miso soup, cup noodles, etc.

Attention points

1.Put hot drinks and soups on the table so that children are out of reach, place them in the center and do not handle them with their children holding them.
2.Do not use tablecloths and luncheon mats, as they can easily cause children to pull and defeat the container on them.

11.Falling from adult beds and sofas

Attention points

1.Children may turn over or move around while sleeping, fall off the bed, causing injuries to their heads. Cushions that are too soft may be suffocated, so do not place them around even if they prevent falls.
2.I think that you often sleep together when you sleep, but try not to use adult beds as much as possible until you are two years old. Let's not let you sleep on the sofa again.

12.A fall when using a baby strap

Attention points

1.Be sure to support your child by hand when bending forward, such as picking up objects when using a hug.
2.When carrying a piggyback, holding, or lowering, do it in a low posture.
3.Read the instruction manual, such as buckles fasteners, loose belts, and child's position, and use them correctly.

13.Accidents due to the use of child seats

Attention points

1.It's dangerous to hold your baby. It is also dangerous to fasten your seat belt while holding your child.
2.Even for a short ride, use a child seat (* including a junior seat).
3. Be sure to use a child seat until you are 6 years old. If you are 6 years old and cannot wear your seat belt properly, use a child seat.
4.Read the instruction manual carefully, attach it to the seat, and use the child seat properly.

14.Accidents in drum washing machine

Attention points

1.Even when the drum type washing machine is not in use, be sure to close the lid and use the child lock function.
2.In a washing machine that does not have a child lock function, take measures such as hanging a rubber band on the lid.
