What is Yokohama City Citizenship Insurance?

It is a system in which those who are doing various volunteer activities in the city are liable for damages due to an unexpected accident during the activity or pay insurance money in case of injury.

You do not need to apply in advance because Yokohama City bears the full premium for this insurance.

In the unlikely event of an accident, please contact the General Affairs Division General Affairs Section as soon as possible.
We have you report contents of concrete volunteer activity or the situation of accident and examine whether it is targeted for insurance.

Insurance is for social education-related organizations engaged in sports activities, cultural activities, volunteer activities, and community activities.

There is also "Volunteer Activity Insurance" that allows individual volunteers, volunteer groups, non-profit organizations, or volunteers belonging to their affiliations (need to be registered or commissioned by the Japan National Council of Social Welfare).
