It is a private road in an area that is used by citizens as a road leading to public facilities such as railway station buildings and ward offices in daily life, and maintenance is required on private roads in a certain area centered on the public facilities In such cases, there is a system in which Yokohama City performs maintenance work such as pavement.
Several conditions for maintenance work are described in the following items. If you would like a detailed explanation, please contact the Public Works Office office.

Roads targeted for maintenance are used by a large number of citizens and meet the following conditions. However, in principle, there are some restrictions depending on the size of the road, such as the width of the road or the circumstances of the construction, so please consult with Public Works Office for details.

1. It is a private road within a radius of 500 meters from public facilities such as railway station buildings, ward offices, district centers, sports centers and libraries that are used daily by local residents, and has a width of 2.7 meters or more.
2. It is a newly designated school road with the establishment (relocation) of elementary and junior high schools.
3. It is a private road that is under the procedure of transferring public roads and has conditions.
   Please contact Public Works Office separately for private roads that are being transferred to public roads.

The types of construction work to be carried out are as follows. Please consult with Public Works Office for details such as incidental work.

1. New pavement construction
2. Pavement repair work
3. New construction of stairs
4. Staircase repair work

If you wish to maintain a private road, please select a representative (procedures, etc. = application representative) from the right holders of the private road site and users of the private road. This representative will be responsible for compiling local opinions and consulting with Public Works Office.

Please fill out the application form for private road maintenance provided in Public Works Office with required items and submit it to Public Works Office. Please submit this application between April 1 and the end of November. . Please contact us at any time.

When the application form is submitted, a field survey will be conducted in Public Works Office and the representative will be notified in the “Notice of Decision on Construction of Private Roads”. If you receive the notification, please submit the “Consent Form for Construction Enforcement” to Public Works Office.

1. When the construction is completed, Public Works Office will issue a “Notice of Completion of Private Road Maintenance Work”. After receiving this notice, the representative must submit a “Maintenance Pledge” to Public Works Office under the joint name of the landowner.
2. The maintenance of the private road after the maintenance will vary depending on the handling of this private road, so please ask Public Works Office for details. In addition, private road maintenance by this system is limited to one time.
