In order to prevent children from smoking-Collaborative efforts with educational sites-
In Yokohama City, we provide a variety of smoking prevention education and enlightenment so that minors and students can choose not to smoke because they are under 20 years old, but not to smoke in the future. In elementary, junior high and high schools, students will learn various knowledge about tobacco in cooperation with educational settings, such as the adverse effects of smoking and health hazards caused by passive smoking.
Initiatives at elementary and junior high schools in the city
Schools, ward Health and Welfare Center, and local health promotion staff cooperate to provide on-site classes to prevent smoking. In on-site classes, we learn the harm of tobacco, and health activity promotion staff play an adult role, perform role-playing on how to refuse tobacco, and deepen learning. In addition, through children, it is also an opportunity to prevent smoking and raise awareness of smoking cessation for parents and other surrounding adults.
Efforts at city high schools
We make leaflet (PDF: 3,727KB) with city Board of Education Secretariat and distribute to high school in the city so that it can be used for class. In addition, municipal high schools are working to enhance learning about the harm of tobacco in existing health and physical education classes.
Efforts at city universities
As support to choose "do not smoke" and "do not drink or drink too much", we cooperate with city universities and raise awareness by distributing flyers (PDF: 2,410KB) especially for new students.
