What is passive smoking?

Sidestream smoke is smoke that rises from the tip of a cigarette and is highly alkaline and strongly stimulates eyes and nose. Sidestream smoke contains more harmful substances than mainstream smoke.
Inhaling this sidestream smoke or smoke exhaled after smoking (exhaled smoke) is called passive smoking.

Impact of Passive Smoking

Passive smoking can cause symptoms such as eye itching, pain, blinking, nasal congestion, sneezing, nasal discharge, and coughing. In addition, inhalation of carbon monoxide can cause headaches, or nicotine can contract blood vessels and reduce the temperature of the skin. Non-smokers are more susceptible to smoke than smokers, and it takes time to recover body temperature. In addition, it is said that if you are in an environment where you receive passive smoking on a daily basis at home or at work, the mortality rate of diseases such as lung cancer and ischemic heart disease will increase.
Passive smoking in infants is considered to be one of the risk factors for sudden infant death syndrome, a disease in which the baby suddenly dies.

Is it okay if I smoke under the ventilation fan?

There is a risk of passive smoking even under the ventilation fan.

Even if you smoke under a ventilation fan, the harmful substances of tobacco remain in the room, so people around you can suffer from passive smoking.
(It's the same as when making curry by turning the ventilation fan. The scent of curry remains in the room.

Can I close the window and smoke on the veranda?

Even if the window is closed and smoked, harmful substances of tobacco enter the room about clothes.
Also, smoking on the veranda in apartment can cause inconvenience to others due to cigarette smoke flowing into the neighbor.

Is it okay to install an air purifier?

The instruction manual of the electric manufacturer clearly states that installing an air purifier cannot remove harmful substances from tobacco.
(97% of cigarettes are gas (gas) and the remaining 3% are particles (suspended matter). The air purifier is only effective for these 3% particles.)
