Information on the 2023 Child Addition Benefit [50,000 yen]

“Yokohama Electric Power, Gas, Food Products, etc. Emergency Support Benefit”

For child-raising households that are exempt from residence tax, 50,000 yen will be added to the 70,000 yen benefit and 50,000 yen per child.

50,000 yen per child who is same household as of the base date (December 1, 2023)

※Exceptions are children born on or after the base date (December 1, 2023) are eligible.

Eligible households and recipients

Households subject to emergency support benefits (70,000 yen) for households exempt from residence tax, households with children under the age of 18 (since April 2, 2005)

(Caution) For child-raising households that are taxed only on the inhabitant tax per capita rate, please see the 100,000 yen benefit and child addition.

Person who can apply for and receive benefits

I am the head of household registered in resident certificate.
(Caution) If a person other than the head of the household performs the application procedure or receives, delegation from the head of household is required.

Application period

From Monday, February 26, 2024 to Wednesday, May 1, 2024
(Caution) The postmark is not valid. It must arrive within the period.
    As an exception, children born after the day following the base date (December 1, 2023) can be applied until the postmark is valid on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Payment method and payment timing

As a general rule, payment will be made by bank transfer to an account of a financial institution.

In principle, a “Notice of Payment” will be sent to the applicable households, and will be transferred sequentially from March 26.
If there are no incomplete documents or entries for households that have applied individually, the payment will be made in about one month after receiving the application.

We will send out the "Notice of Payment" of child additional benefits to Address, which has been registered as a resident of households eligible for the 70,000 yen benefit (as of December 1) from February 26, so please check the contents .

No application procedure is required.

If you agree to the contents of the "Notice of Payment", you do not need to follow the procedure.
It is sent in a uguised envelope, as shown in the figure on the right.

If any of the following reasons apply, please contact the Emergency Support Benefit Call Center (0120-045-320).

  • When changing the transfer account (it is expected to take about one month from the start of the change procedure to the transfer)
  • If you decline this benefit
  • When there is a difference in the number of children under the age of 18

If you do not contact us by Wednesday, March 6, 2024, you will be deemed to have agreed to the payment and will make a payment procedure to the account listed in the "Notice of Payment".

Application form

If a household that does not receive the “Notice of Payment” or has a child born on or after the day following the record date applies for child addition, please obtain the “Application Form” yourself, fill in the required items, and submit it by mail with other required documents.

(Caution) The "Application Form" can also be obtained at the application support window of each ward office.

  • Copy of identity verification documents (head of household, proxy/agent)
  • Copy of documents that can be used to confirm the transfer account (financial institution name, account number, account holder (kana)). ※If you do not have a passbook or cash card due to Internet banking, etc., please attach a printed copy of the account information screen after logging in. Please take measures such as filling out other personal information in black.
  • Copy of 2023 Resident Tax Exemption Certificate (for all those who have been transferred to Yokohama City on or after January 2, 2023): Only households eligible for 70,000 yen benefit
  • Copy of 2023 Resident Tax Exemption Certificate and Tax Exemption Certificate (for all persons transferred to Yokohama City after January 2, 2023): Only households eligible for 100,000 yen benefit
  • Documents certifying the fact of birth (copy of resident certificate, etc.): Only households with children born after the day following the reference date (December 1, 2023)

(Caution) For more information about required documents, please refer to the application form. Please be careful not to forget to attach it.

(Caution) There's a postage charge. Free shipping envelopes are available at the application support window in each ward.

From application to payment

  • Upon receipt of the application form, the submitted documents will be reviewed.
  • When there is deficiencies, shortages, etc., we will send a telephone call for confirmation or a notice of deficiency from the "Yokohama City Emergency Support Benefit Reception Center".
  • Payment of benefits in the event of any deficiencies in the application form is required for about one month after the correction is confirmed.
  • As a result of the examination, if you are not eligible for the benefit, we will send you a notice of non-payment.

Method of confirming the progress of the examination

If you would like to check the progress of the screening process, please contact the call center. However, we can only answer inquiries from the applicant and proxy/agent described in the application form.

If the application is incomplete

From the "Yokohama City Emergency Support Benefit Reception Center", we will send you a notice of deficiencies or call you to confirm the contents. Please make corrections according to the contents of the notice.

Method of correcting defects

  • If the contents of the application form are incomplete: Please write the correction directly to the defect notification and return it.
  • If missing documents are missing: Please attach the missing documents and return it with a notice of defect.

Deadline for submitting defective documents

Until Saturday, June 1, 2024 (must arrive)
As an exception, applications for children born after the day following the base date (December 1, 2023), until Wednesday, September 18, 2024 (must arrive).
(Caution)

  • The postmark is not valid and must arrive by the deadline. We will not be able to accept documents received after the submission deadline.
  • If the deficiencies are not submitted by the deadline and the application is not resolved, the application will be deemed to have been withdrawn.

Return method

A return envelope is enclosed with a notice of deficiency. Please use this and return it.
