Maruyu (no interest rate on small deposits, etc.) System
Deposits, etc. deposited with financial institutions, securities companies, etc. through certain procedures (deposits and savings, joint investment trusts, specific securities, specified publicly offered public and corporate bonds, etc. With regard to the tax exemption system (Maruyu) and the tax exemption system for small public bonds (government bonds and municipal bonds) purchased through certain procedures (special Maruyu) are exempt.

The tax exemption system for interest income on postal savings was abolished on October 1, 2007 due to the privatization of Japan Post.
