Interview with past speakers [Mr. K working at Yokohama Branch of Nippon Express Co., Ltd.]

We asked Mr. K, who was on stage in 2016, about his subsequent work and life, and the "knowledges" to continue working. The interviewer is Suzuki support member of Tozuka Employment Support Center, a support organization for Mr. K. It was an interview during the time after work, but it was a wonderful time to go with laughter in a relaxed atmosphere throughout the day and feel the relationship of trust between the two.

After joining a special subsidiary, he joined the current company.

Mr. Suzuki: Hello. First of all, please tell us your self-introduction and the progress of joining the current company.
Mr. K: Hello. I am in charge of accounting at Nippon Express Co., Ltd. Yokohama Branch (hereinafter referred to as Nippon Express). This is the sixth year of service. The rough progress from illness to the present is like this.

Until I was hired by my current company, I was engaged in job hunting mainly at Hello Work and joint interviews for people with disabilities, and more than 100 companies received it. Even if I was looking for a job by myself, the results were not easily obtained, and I consulted with the Tozuka Employment Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the Employment Support Center).

Mr. Suzuki: Originally, you joined Nippon Express Heartful Co., Ltd., a special subsidiary, Nippon Express Heartful Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Nippon Express Heartful), and then you moved to the current Nippon Express.
Mr. K: I decided to join Nippon Express Heartful because it was good to understand the atmosphere and work content of the company during the pre-employment training. "I'm going to continue here. I want to work here."
I was looking for an inexperienced accounting work, but since I was born in science, I applied because I thought, "Is it possible to get" science "in accounting and handle numbers?"
My current job is mainly to pay.
From the beginning of joining Nippon Express Heartful, I got used to work quickly and worked hard with the goal of joining Nippon Express within three years.
At the time of joining the company, I was doing simple collation work, but as I got used to it, the number of tasks assigned to me increased. Every day, I made sure that I didn't make mistakes, and tried to do it at my own pace without impatient.

About various changes in continuing work

Mr. Suzuki: Do you have any changes in your mindset about your work at the time of your presentation five years ago and now?
Mr. K: When I joined Nippon Express Heartful, I was dispatched to Nippon Express as a temporary employee and worked, but now I am working as a contract employee for Nippon Express. I feel that my direct employment has made me feel closer to my colleagues and that my friendship has become stronger than before.

Mr. Suzuki: Did you have any changes in your work at the time of joining the company?
Mr. K: There was a lot. When I joined the company, I worked 5 days and 6 hours a week, but I gradually extended my working hours to 7 hours and 8 hours, and now I work full-time like my colleagues.
I consulted with family doctor about extending the time. family doctor said, "If you get sick, if you can return to a short time again, you can extend your working hours."
At first, I was worried, "Is it really possible?", But "I work full-time around me. I want to work in the same way as everyone. "I actually extended it, and when I realized that there was no problem, I was confident that I could do it. After that, we were able to extend our full-time work smoothly.
Immediately after the extension, I saw the watch and felt painful, saying, "I have an hour more," but by repeating it, my body got used to it.
Recently, the organizational structure of the accounting team has been reviewed, and the work I was doing has changed slightly. At the time of joining the company, the content of my work has changed a lot.
Mr. Suzuki: Have you changed your way of dealing with your illness five years ago and now?
Mr. K: In my case, I don't have much subjective symptoms. I think it's the same as an ordinary person, but some people sometimes say, "I'm sick." I try not to worry too much, but when I have symptoms, I consult my boss and take a break to manage my physical condition. As much as possible, I try not to return home in the middle of work.

There must be a person who can consult

Mr. Suzuki: If you continue to work, I think there are many changes. What are you careful about and how do you solve it when you are in trouble?
Mr. K: I think the only way to build a relationship of trust with people is to act steadily. For example, when I change to a new boss, I try to get that person to know myself, understand the other person, and build a friendly relationship.
Of course, there are many people in my colleagues and bosses. If you have any problems, we also consult with the Employment Support Center and Nippon Express Heartful supporters to get advice.
One person previously advised me, "I have to be able to consult my boss," and since then, I have also consulted my boss.
At first it was difficult to consult, but since I was asked to talk to my boss, I realized that I could consult, and now I am able to work calmly.
Listening to the story is your own physical condition management, so there are some people who can talk, including support organizations, about 5 people in my own case, but I try to make such people I am. I feel free to consult with family doctor.
Even if you want to hear the story and call, you may not be able to get the other party, so I think it would be nice to have more than one person who can consult.
Mr. Suzuki: How do you use the support organization?
Mr. K: In my case, it is easy to consult with the same-sex supporters in various ways.
For a while after joining Nippon Express Heartful, there was also a company visit by a supporter of the Employment Support Center, but now I am able to work calmly, so there are few company visits.
Once a month, I meet Suzuki at the end of work and report and consult. Occasionally, I also participate in leisure activities at the Employment Support Center. The job coach of a specialized agency is not coming to work now.
Mr. Suzuki: Certainly, we continue to interview after work, but we rarely visit companies. Is it better to visit a company?
Mr. K: I'll say that at that time, so it's okay (laughs).

Important time

Mr. Suzuki: The story changes, but you got married after the symposium. Congratulations.
Mr. K: Thank you very much. It's very big that there are people who can talk when they go home. You can understand yourself and understand others, and your home is a place of healing. I think it was very good to get married. We have a cafe time at night. While drinking tea, we report each other what happened that day, but not only good things, but also comfort me if there is something bad (laughs).
Mr. Suzuki: That's a nice habit, isn't it? How are you going to change your mind?
Mr. K: In my case, it's just to drink a drink. You can refresh when you drink it. Even when I don't want to drink much, I just drink it. On holidays, the couple goes out and listens to music. Music often listens to JPOP. There are also places like meha, so I'm holding down trendy songs (laughs).

Toward the Future

Mr. Suzuki: Do you have any future goals for continuing your work?
Mr. K: I want to work in the same way as a healthy person, regardless of disability. Now, I'm working hard to become a full-time employee.
Mr. Suzuki: Finally, please give a message to those who are planning to work in the future.

Don't worry too much about having a disability

Don't think, "I'm inferior to others." If you do so, you will be able to get rid of your wall, and you will be transformed into yourself. You may not be able to do it, but there are also aspects that can cover it. The most important thing is to show your strength.

Take a good rest

If you get sick, you have no physical or child, so if you feel sick, consult your boss and rest. I think it's important to make that sharper.
