■Comment from Mayor Fumiko Hayashi
It is a great honor to choose Yokohama as the home area of Canon Eagles, who is participating in the Japan Rugby Top League, Japan's highest peak. I would like to welcome you all.
Just a year ago, today, the final match of the Rugby World Cup 2019 TM, was held in Yokohama, where the world was wrapped in excitement. Yokohama City will firmly establish this momentum in Yokohama without interruption, which has been greatly excited.
In 1873, just 14 years after the opening of the port, the first rugby game in Japan was held in Yokohama. We will create a new history of Yokohama, the birthplace of Japanese rugby, together with Canon Eagles.
