Meiji 22-Daisho 12

The government has been constructing ports several times since 1889 (Meiji 22) to make it a modern port, so Yokohama Port became Japan's first international trading port and became Japan's main gateway, and trade value increased every year.

From 1889 (Meiji 22) to 1896 (Meiji 29), the Shinko Wharf, known in Akarengasoko, was built from 1899 (Meiji 22) to 1896 (Meiji 29).

At Shinko Wharf, some of the facilities at that time are still being used.

At this time, factories began to be built on land facing the sea, and many of the shallow shores from Kawasaki to Kanagawa were reclaimed as factory sites by the private sector, and the Keihin Industrial Zone (Keihin Kogyochitai) was built, but almost after the Great Kanto Earthquake on September 1, 1923 (Daisho 12) was built.
