What is road occupation?
Private use of roads means establishing certain structures, properties and facilities on roads and using roads continuously in addition to the original purpose of general traffic such as traffic of vehicles and pedestrians.
In order to occupy the road, a road occupation permit is required, and it is necessary to pay the private use fee.
Property that can occupy roads
Articles occupied by roads are determined only by the Road Law and the Road Law Enforcement Ordinance, such as telephone poles, water supply and gas pipes, and protruding signs, and other properties cannot occupy roads.

About private use charges
With the permission of road occupation, you will have to pay a private use fee.
About amount of private use charges, it is established in Yokohama-shi road private use charges regulations. Private charges vary depending on the type, quantity, area, etc. of the property to be occupied, so please contact Public Works Office or City of Yokohama, Road and Highway Bureau Administration Division.

Procedures for Road Private Use
Application for road occupation permission
Fill out the road occupation permit application form with required items and submit two copies with location maps, floor plans, structural drawings, quadrature maps, etc. attached.
Other applications
In addition to permission for private use, application is necessary for change or abolition.
