What is Road Private Use?
Private use of roads refers to establishing certain structures, properties and facilities on the road, in addition to the original purpose of general traffic such as traffic of vehicles and pedestrians, and using roads continuously.
In order to occupy the road, a road occupation permit is required, and it is necessary to pay a private use fee.
Property that can be occupied by roads
Articles that occupy roads are limited by the Road Law and the Road Law Enforcement Ordinance, such as telephone poles, water and gas pipes, and protruding signs. For other properties, roads cannot be occupied

With permission of road occupation, you will have to pay a private use fee.
About amount of private use charges, it is established in Yokohama-shi road private use charges regulations. Private use fees vary depending on the type, quantity, area, etc. of the property to be occupied, so please contact the Public Works Office or City of Yokohama, Road and Highway Bureau Administration Division.

Procedure for road occupation
Application for Road Private Use Permit
Fill in required items on the road occupation permission application form and submit two copies with the location map, floor plan, structural drawing, quadrature map, etc.
Other applications
Application is necessary for change or abolition other than permission of private use.
