The Horiwari River was completed in 1874 as a canal connecting Yokohama Port and Negishi Bay, and was utilized along with the development of Isogo Ward, and 150 years have passed since 2024.
In Isogo Ward, together with the Executive Committee for the Promotion of Attractiveness of the Horiwari River and the residents of the city, we are working to ensure that Isogo residents can enjoy the Horiwari River, one of the most valuable waterfronts in Isogo Ward.

Here are some events organized by the Isogo Ward Office in 2024.
We are promoting initiatives that utilize the Horiwari River Isogo Pier in order to let citizens and businesses inside and outside the city know more about the Horiwari River and Negishi Bay.

Horiwari River Pamphlet
The Horiwari River was completed in 1874 as a canal connecting Yokohama Port and Negishi Bay, and 150 years have passed in 2024.
In order to make you know more about the Horiwari River, we have created a pamphlet "Mitsuyomo More wonderful Horiwari River".
・This section introduces the history of the Horiwari River, which has been used with the opening of Yokohama Port.
・The figure of the Horiwari River, which retains the remnants of the reconstruction period after the earthquake, is introduced on a insert map.
It is distributed at Isogo Ward Office Ward Administration Promotion Division Public Relations Section (65th floor on the 6th floor).

Let's trace the history of 150 years in the flow of the Horiwari River, where many boats came and went during the Meiji era.
The cruise will guide you through the history since the Meiji era and the scenery of revetments created during the reconstruction period.
■Implementation date Saturday, October 12, 2024 ※Light rain operation, stormy weather cancellation
■Route Depart from the Horiwari River Isogo Pier (boarding / disembarking), go back to the Horiwari River, and make a round trip near Nakamurabashi.
■Time required approximately 35 minutes

Departing from Yahatabashi in Isogo Ward, going around the Horiwari River, Nakamurakawa, Horikawa, Yokohama Port, and disbanding at Bentenbashi Bridge in Naka Ward.

The animal quarantine station premises of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, which is usually closed, will be open to the public for one day only!
