Measures against abandoned bicycles
Last Updated January 18, 2024
Leaving a bicycle or motorcycle on the station square or on the road will not only hinder traffic, but also make emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks to pass, causing life-threatening problems. Bicycles and motorcycles are useful vehicles that are indispensable for daily life, but use them well so that they do not bother others.
Yokohama City has established the "Ordinance on Prevention of Leaving Bicycles in Yokohama City" and has designated the area around the station as a "bicycle-free area" that prohibits leaving bicycles and motorcycles. Prohibited areas are station squares, roads, sidewalks, parks, etc. within about 300 meters around the railway station. Signs are installed in prohibited areas so that users such as bicycles can be identified.
Along with the designation of prohibited areas, Yokohama City has set up bicycle parking lots around the station, so use bicycle parking lots. Please note that bicycles and motorcycles parked in prohibited areas instead of bicycle parking lots are designated by Yokohama City as abandoned bicycles and will be transferred to designated storage locations for each station.
