Barrier-free July under construction from Yokohama!

Pedestrian safety and security of pedestrians increased in the Guidelines for Promoting Barrier-Free Pedestrians under Construction.

 Due to the construction, the usability of the road you are used to on a daily basis has changed significantly, and it may be difficult to walk or inconvenience. In addition, even a slight change due to construction, it may be a heavy burden for the elderly and disabled.
 In order to enhance the safety and security of pedestrians even during construction, Yokohama City has been working.
We devise "barrier-free promotion guidelines for pedestrians during construction" and carry out from July 1.

 In formulating the guidelines, we solicited opinions and formulated guidelines reflecting the many opinions we received.

1 Implementation of the Guidelines

 Of the works performed by Yokohama City, construction performed using public pedestrian spaces requires compliance with these guidelines. About construction that except Yokohama-shi performs, when we use public pedestrian space in the city, we ask for compliance of guidelines at the time of road occupation application. 

2 Overview of the Guidelines

(1) Configuration of guidelines
 From the two approaches, the pedestrian's perspective and the viewpoint of the construction site, the structure summarizes matters that need to be considered for items that need to be considered. I was able to work properly.
 For helpful information, a column section has been provided for more detailed explanations.

(2) Items to be considered
 The following nine items are summarized in the following nine items.

  1. Effective width of aisle
  2. Aisle of aisle
  3. Steps on the aisle
  4. Road surface condition of passage
  5. Circuit setting
  6. Correspondence to places where blocks for guiding visually impaired persons are installed
  7. Provision of construction information
  8. Night consideration
  9. Maintenance of passages

3 Results of opinion solicitation

 In formulating the guidelines, we published the (draft) and solicited opinions, and reflected them in the guidelines.

Opinion solicitation period: March 10 (Thu) to April 11 (Mon), 2005
Number of opinions received: 51 cases

(2) Specific examples of opinion

  1. Those that require the application of guidelines to work performed by private companies
  2. Those that require guidance to get off the bicycle in narrow passages due to construction
  3. A request for additional explanation of assistance methods so that construction personnel can assist the wheelchair
