What is IT for public works (CALS/EC)?

　To this end, it is important to accurately manage and utilize information generated at each stage, such as planning, design, estimation, procurement, construction, and maintenance of public works. It is essential to build a system (CALS/EC) that utilizes IT, such as "use of networks" and "sharing information."
　For this reason, Yokohama City is introducing and promoting “IT for public works (CALS / EC)”.

　In Yokohama City, as one of the priority administrative and financial reform items of the "Yokohama City Medium-Term Plan (FY2018-FY2012)" formulated in December 2006, the provision of services using optimal entities and methods is set as one of the priority initiatives. We promote efficient and effective administrative management utilizing IT, with the aim of promoting efficient and effective administrative management utilizing IT. Regarding the conversion of public works into IT in Yokohama City, based on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's CALS / EC Regional Development Action Program, etc., the “IT Promotion Plan for Public Works (CALS / EC)” was formulated in March 2003. Has been promoted as part of the Yokohama City Electronic City Hall Promotion Plan.

　Furthermore, in March 2007, taking into account the current situation and issues of the use of IT in public works, in conjunction with the revision of the plan by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the medium-term plan of the city, and the electronic city hall promotion plan, the conventional “IT for public works” Promotion Plan (CALS / EC) "has been updated.

We have set up the “Yokohama City Public Works IT Study Group” and have worked to reflect the opinions of the contractor through information exchange and exchange of opinions. .
