Regulations on acts in coastal conservation areas and port adjacent areas based on laws and regulations

What is the Coastal Conservation Area?
tsunami, high tides and other areas designated based on the regulations of the Coastal Law to protect the coast from damage caused by fluctuations in seawater, etc., and to preserve the land.
What is the port adjacent area?
This refers to the area designated by the port manager based on the provisions of the Port and Harbor Law to preserve the harbor area (water area) and the area adjacent to the port area (land area).

※In the case of performing any of the following acts, it is necessary to obtain permission from the coast manager in principle. When you are going to perform applicable act, please talk with City of Yokohama, Port and Harbor Bureau Facility Management Division first.

Regulations on Coastal Conservation Areas

  • Collection of debris (including sand) in the area
  • The loading load is 10t/m2 in the area ※Establishment or renovation of facilities or structures that exceed
  • Excavation or cut land exceeding 1.5m deep from the ground surface in the area (areas within 5m from the coastal conservation facility and the water surface are applicable regardless of the depth from the ground surface)
  • Embankment with a loading load of more than 10t / m2 in the area
  • Implementing construction related to coastal conservation facilities

 ※ If the coastal conservation area overlaps with the port adjacent area, the regulations in the port adjacent area (loading load 0.5t / m2) take precedence.

Regulations in areas adjacent to ports

  • Construction or improvement of outer facilities, mooring facilities, water culverts or culverts in the area
  • Construction or renovation of a structure with a loading load of more than 0.5t / m2 within a range of 20 m from the border line
