Regulations on activities in coastal conservation areas and harbor adjacent areas based on laws and regulations

What is a coastal conservation area?
tsunami, high tides and other areas designated in accordance with the regulations of Coastal Law to protect the coast from damage caused by fluctuations in seawater and other waters and to preserve the land.
What is the area adjacent to the port?
This refers to the area designated by the port manager based on the provisions of the Port and Harbor Law to preserve the port area (water area) and the area adjacent to the port area (land area).

※When performing any of the following acts, it is necessary to obtain permission from the coast manager in principle. If you are going to do so, please contact the City of Yokohama, Port and Harbor Bureau Facility Management Division first.

Regulations in coastal conservation areas

  • Collection of debris (including sand) in the area
  • In the area, the load is 10t/m2 ※New establishment or renovation of facilities or structures that exceed
  • Excavation or cut land more than 1.5m deep from the ground surface in the area (areas within 5m from the coastal conservation facility and water surfaces are eligible regardless of the depth from the ground surface)
  • Embankment with a load of more than 10t/m2 in the area
  • Implement construction related to coastal conservation facilities

 ※ If the coastal conservation area overlaps with the port adjacent area, the regulations in the port adjacent area (load load 0.5t/m2) will take precedence.

Regulations in areas adjacent to ports

  • Construction or improvement of outer facilities, mooring facilities, irrigation sewers or drains in the area
  • Construction or renovation of structures with a loading capacity of more than 0.5t/m2 within 20m from the border line
