Yokohama Plastic Resource Recycling Action Program

Marine pollution caused by plastics has become a global issue, and there are concerns about its impact on ecosystems. Therefore, there is a growing movement to solve the plastic problem.
Japan is also starting to work as a whole to solve the problem. Since it is important for citizens and businesses to act concretely in promoting initiatives, the role of basic local governments is indispensable.
To solve the plastic problem, we have formulated the "Yokohama Plastic Resource Recycling Action Program" that showed specific actions that Yokohama City will work on.

After formulating the action program, plastic measures are becoming increasingly important from the perspective of decarbonization and resource recycling, in addition to preventing marine pollution, such as charging for shopping bags, declaration of carbon neutrality by 2050, and the enforcement of the Plastic Resource Recycling Law.
Based on these changes in social conditions, we have newly formulated the "Yokohama Pra 5.3 (garbage) Plan (Yokohama City General Waste Management Basic Plan)" The Yokohama Pra 5.3 Plan encompasses action programs, and we will promote plastic measures based on this plan.
