Yokohama Plastic Resource Recycling Action Program

Marine pollution caused by plastics has become an issue on a global scale, and there are concerns about the impact on ecosystems, so there is a growing movement around the world to solve plastic problems.
Japan is also moving toward the resolution of problems. The role of basic local governments is indispensable because it is important for citizens and businesses to act concretely in promoting initiatives.
We have formulated the "Yokohama Plastic Resource Recycling Action Program", which shows specific actions taken by Yokohama City to solve the plastic problem.

In addition to preventing marine pollution, plastic measures are becoming increasingly important from the viewpoints of decarbonization and resource recycling, such as charging for shopping bags, declaring carbon neutrality by 2050, and the enforcement of the Plastic Resource Recycling Law.
Based on these changes in social conditions, we have newly formulated the “Yokohama Plan 5.3 (garbage) plan (Yokohama City General Waste Treatment Basic Plan)”. The Yokohama PLA 5.3 Plan is a plan that includes an action program, and we will promote plastic measures based on the plan.
