The situation surrounding waste administration is changing with the times, and there is a need to respond to various issues such as achieving SDGs, realizing a decarbonized society, taking measures against plastics and reducing food loss, responding to diverse social needs, and developing facilities with a view to the future. In order to steadily respond to these changes in the times, we have formulated the "Yokohama Pra 5.3 (garbage) Plan (Yokohama City General Waste Management Basic Plan)".
In Yokohama-shi, we had citizen, companies cooperate, and reduction of garbage progressed greatly in approximately 20 years from 2001.
This project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from waste disposal and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by focusing on reducing the amount of plastic waste contained in burnable garbage in addition to the 3Rs and stable waste disposal.

Overview of the plan

Plan period: FY2023 (Reiwa 5) to FY2030 (12)
Goals: Reduced plastic waste contained in burnable garbage by 20,000 tons (compared to fiscal 2022)

(5.3 kg per citizen)

We will implement six policies to realize the basic philosophy and achieve our goals.

Waste measures to achieve the SDGs and realize a decarbonized society (Report)

In December 2021, we consulted with the Yokohama City Waste Reduction and Recycling Promotion Council on "Waste Measures for Achieving the SDGs and Realizing a Decarbonized Society", and after discussions at the Council, received a report on May 15, 2023, after discussions at the Council.
