About Yokohama-shi song

Since it was performed at the 50th anniversary celebration of Yokohama Port on July 1, 1909 (Meiji 42), it has been sung by citizens. The lyrics are written by Taro Moribayashi (Ogai Mori), and the composition is Yoshie Minami, an assistant professor at Tokyo College of Music (now Tokyo University of the Arts) at the time. Even now, municipal elementary schools are singing instruction along with school songs. It is performed and sung at events such as the opening of the port (June 2), graduation ceremony, and the City University Association.
