Lost of parts of US military aircraft carrier-based aircraft
Last Updated March 8, 2019
On March 4, 2010, an accident occurred in which a carrier-based aircraft (Honet) belonging to the 5th Aircraft Carrier Wing lost parts. According to the announcement, it may have fallen offshore or on the ground, but in January this year, an accident occurred in which parts fell from the super hornet and caused physical damage to a private house in Kanagawa City occurred. However, while the cause and measures to prevent recurrence have not been announced, it has caused great anxiety to local residents as well as many citizens of the prefecture.
In Kanagawa Prefecture, parts fall by U.S. military aircraft almost every year, and citizens of the prefecture are strongly concerned about aircraft accidents.
Despite the fact that the Council has requested the establishment of flight safety measures and thorough maintenance inspections every time there is an opportunity, and it is extremely regrettable that such aircraft accidents have occurred continuously. I have a strong distrust in the way of safety management.
In your position, I strongly request that you take all possible measures (apply to the U.S. military) so that a U.S. military aircraft accidents do not occur in the future.
※() The inside is inserted into the request to the Japanese side.
1 Regarding the accidents this time and January of this year, immediately investigate the cause of the accident and take thorough measures to prevent recurrence. In addition, these matters shall be disclosed promptly.
2 Ensure that maintenance and inspection of aircraft are carried out, and strive to ensure thorough safety management of aircraft.
