In Yokohama-shi, we develop the following approaches during "Food Loss Reduction Month" of October as an opportunity for citizens to think about food loss and have them act.

Remarks
The burnable garbage from households in Yokohama contains 93,000 tons of food loss per year (estimated in fiscal 2020), which is equivalent to 25 kilograms per citizen. In addition, greenhouse gases generated by the disposal of food contribute not only to global warming, but also waste resources such as water and energy consumed during production and distribution.
