It's the first time as a local government! We will conclude a memorandum of cooperation with JOIN to promote the participation of city companies in overseas smart city business.

Yokohama City is promoting initiatives to connect overseas demand to expanding business opportunities for local companies through “International Technical Cooperation through Public-Private Partnership (Y-PORT Project)”.
At present, sustainable urban development, the so-called smart city development market, is expanding mainly in emerging countries. In response to this, Yokohama City, which has been promoting the development of infrastructure across multiple complex areas, including the Minato Mirai 21 district, has received requests for cooperation from overseas.
In December 2025, the Government of Japan formulated the “Infrastructure System Overseas Expansion Strategy 2025” by the Economic Cooperation Infrastructure Strategy Council (Chairman: Secretary-General of the Cabinet Secretariat) and is examining and developing various support measures for the overseas expansion of smart cities in Japan.
In response to this strategy, Yokohama City will conclude a new memorandum of cooperation with the Overseas Transportation and Urban Development Project Support Organization (JOIN). This is the first time that JOIN has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with local governments.
