Health management

Health management refers to the strategic implementation of health promotion and other measures from a management perspective, based on the belief that efforts to maintain and improve employee health are investments that will increase profitability in the future. By conducting health management, various effects can be expected, such as recruitment effects, as well as improving productivity and image enhancement. (Health management is a registered trademark of the Nonprofit Organization Health Management Study Group.)
In Yokohama, Economic Affairs Bureau, which is responsible for revitalizing the city's economy, and Health and Social Welfare Bureau, which is responsible for promoting the health of citizens.

Yokohama City considers efforts to maintain and promote the health of employees and others as investment to increase the profitability of companies in the future. In order to spread the concept of “health management” widely, establishments engaged in health management have been certified as Yokohama Health Management Certification Offices.

Yokohama City has established a “Health Management Support Center” to promote and promote health management for neighboring companies in the corporate clusters.
The Health Management Support Center holds free seminars on health management initiatives and mental health every month, conducts self-checks of health using health equipment, and holds health-related consultations.

It was established in June 2019 as a health management support base in the city.

※Based on the results of seminars and measurement experience sessions that lead to the spread of health management, in March 2022, we concluded a partnership agreement with Biocommunications Co., Ltd., which operates three sites, the Kanagawa Preventive Medicine Association, and Well Up Co., Ltd., to establish and operate a health management support base from FY2022 to FY2026. In collaboration with the Policy Vision Research Center of the University of Tokyo, Yokohama City is working to measure the effectiveness of health management.
In fiscal 2017, we conducted preliminary and post-survey surveys and interviews at six Yokohama Health & Productivity Management Certification Offices to clarify the relationship between health risks and labor productivity loss. Specifically, please see Yokohama-shi press release document.
We will continue to measure effect measurements from FY2018 onward.

Yokohama City holds a health management seminar with the aim of promoting "health management" at city offices and promoting initiatives. In addition to providing the latest information on health management, we also have city offices on stage to report and share initiatives.
