Global Base City
Yokohama City has been selected as a "Global Base City" as a member of the Tokyo Consortium of Startup Ecosystem Tokyo Consortium, in collaboration with Tokyo Metropolitan Government, local governments, companies and organizations.
In the future, with the support of the government, we will make the most of the resources and potential of the city and aim to produce start-ups that are active in the world, and further promote initiatives.
※1 “Strategy for Establishing Global Startup Ecosystem Base”
Taking advantage of Japan's strengths, research and development capabilities, corporate activities, and funds, we aim to create and develop a world-class Japanese-style startup ecosystem base. To this end, local governments, universities, private organizations, etc. certifies a base formation plan for the formation of a startup ecosystem in cities with a certain concentration and potential, and the government and private supporters will provide support to the base city.
The government has selected four locations nationwide as global base cities.
Global Base City
- Startup ecosystem Tokyo Consortium (Tokyo, Shibuya-ku, Kawasaki, Yokohama, Ibaraki, Tsukuba, Chiba, etc.)
- Central Japan Startup Ecosystem Consortium (Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya, Hamamatsu City, etc.)
- Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo Kobe Consortium (Osaka, Osaka, Kyoto, Kyoto, Hyogo, Kobe, etc.)
- Fukuoka Startup Consortium (Fukuoka City, etc.)
