About briefing session about promotion of appropriate disposal of PCB waste in 2024
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of the Environment will hold "FY2024 Briefings on the Proper Treatment of PCB Waste" at five venues nationwide and webinars.
At the briefing session, the outline of laws and regulations will explain in detail how to investigate and treat PCB contaminated equipment, and specific examples of discovery.
For details, please see the special website (outside site).
About start of application acceptance of subsidy system for investigation, exchange costs such as analysis of oil-inverted transformers contaminated with low-concentration PCB
※Started accepting the second open call for participants in 2024 (from September 2)※
The Ministry of the Environment has begun accepting the second application for a subsidy system for investigating and exchanging expenses such as analysis of inlet transformers contaminated with low-concentration PCBs.
If the specified requirements are met, the government will subsidize one-tenth of the oil transformer analysis survey and one-third of the replacement cost by applying in advance.
For more information about the subsidy system, please see the web page (outside site) of the Industrial Waste Management Business Promotion Foundation, which is the subsidy secretariat.
※ The briefing will be held in Tokyo and on the Web (August 26, 2024).
※ The application deadline is until December 20, 2024.
※ The target of the subsidy program is transformers in use.
Condensers and transformers, which are waste, are not eligible.
Important Notices
・Request for thorough investigation of equipment containing high-concentration PCB (PDF: 662KB)
The disposal period for high-concentration PCB waste ended on March 31, 2023, but due to the dismantling and re-examination of facilities, there have been cases where equipment containing high-concentration PCBs was found after the disposal period.
If you find high-concentration PCB waste, please contact the City of Yokohama, Resources and Waste Recycling Bureau Business Waste Management Section (Phone number: 045-671-2513) immediately.
