Overview
Tsuzuki Ward , located in the northern part of Yokohama, was established on November 6, 1994 through the reorganization of administrative districts, bordering Kohoku Ward to the east, Aoba Ward to the west, Midori Ward to the south, and Kawasaki to the north.
The northwestern part of Yokohama City was called "Tsuzuki-gun" from the Nara period to 1939. The name of Tsuzuki is derived from this historical place name and the meaning of the new "Kizuku the capital".
The population has continued to increase steadily from 119,000 at the beginning of birth, reaching about 214,000 (as of April 2022), the eighth largest ward out of 18 wards, and the average age is the youngest in the city. It is the ward.
In the cityscape, ward general government buildings, hospitals, police department, post offices, financial institutions, etc. are concentrated in the town center area, with parks and green spaces including Tsuzuki Chuo Park, as well as municipal subway blue line and green line Is maintained. In addition, farmland spreads in the northwestern part of the ward, the central and southern parts of the Tsurumi River and the Hayabuchi River, and industrial areas spread along the Tsurumi River in the south. Research centers, training centers, etc. are expanding.
In order to support the safety and security of the city, Tsuzuki fire department has established four fire departments: Kawawa Fire Branch, Saedo Fire Branch, Nakamachidai Fire Branch, and Kitayamada Fire Branch, with 154 employees (as of April 1, 2022) and 25 erasers.
