Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day
Last update date August 14, 2023
What is Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day?
On January 26, 1949, a fire broke out from Horyu-ji Temple's Kondo, which was said to be the world's treasure.
Most of the Buddhist paintings drawn were burned down.
In order to protect cultural properties from such damage and to raise the public's awareness of the protection of cultural properties, the Showa era.
From 30 years, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, January 26, the day when the Kondo of Horyu-ji Temple was burned down, was called "Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day".
We have established a fire prevention campaign for cultural properties throughout Japan.
Each fire department in Motoichi also conducts disaster drill and on-site inspections every year, centering on Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day on January 26.
