Meisetsu Naito, a poet during the Meiji era, was impressed by the villagers' writing haiku, and saw the married couple pine on the precincts and wrote, "Husband is husband and women are women and Ryomatsu cool."
The stump of Meotomatsu is enshrined in the next shrine.
