The Oike of Kamishirane, completed in the Edo period, has an area of about 6,000 m2, and was used as irrigation water for upper and lower Shirane villages.
The amount of water was abundant, and people did not suffer from water even during a water famine.
The old story of a large snake living in the pond is told. This area is the origin of Naka-Horikawa.
