On November 20, 2000, the "Act on the Prevention of Child Abuse" came into effect.
The law aims to promptly protect child abuse, which is currently occurring frequently and problematic child abuse.
"Child abuse" means that a parent of elementary school studenｔ (under the age of 18) acts on the following actions against elementary school studenｔ, which is under the age of 18:

1. Violence that may or may cause injury to the body of elementary school studenｔ.
2. Obscene acts
3. Significant dietary reduction or prolonged neglect that interferes with normal mental and physical development.
4. Significant psychological trauma
