Role of Rivers
Totsuka Ward has many rivers and is surrounded by the Izumi River, Udagawa River, and the Akuwa River, Na Segawa River, Hirato Nagatani River, Kawakami River and Maioka River. There are countless waterways in the ward. In addition to the flood control function, the river has the following roles.
Hydroelectric power generation and transportation (water transportation) are used using the flow of the river, and large rivers are used for drinking water, agricultural water, industrial water, etc.
Another major role of the river is the natural environment conservation.
First, the space of the river stimulates the flow of air, and the plants along the river create shades of trees, purify the air, and moisturize our lives.
Secondly, the nature of the river purifies water by living organisms, forms a food chain of living organisms, making it the best place for children's education.
Thirdly, when river water evaporates, it is useful to prevent global warming by depriving heat from the surface.
Fourth, it can be used to prevent the spread of fire in the event of a disaster, as well as for fire prevention water and domestic water in the event of a disaster.
Be careful when playing in the river
When you go out to the river, don't go alone, tell the people at home before going out.
When entering the river, wear shoes so that you do not get injured by broken glass.
Do not approach the river, as the river water suddenly increases when it rains.
There are fish and crabs in the river, but be careful as there are snakes and bees.
Let's take the trash home to clean the river together.
