What is the Specified medical expenses (designated incurable disease) subsidy program?
A

●Outline of the System
Among the so-called incurable disease, the disease specified by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare is called "designated incurable disease" and currently 333 diseases (as of July 1, 2019) are designated.
In order to reduce the burden on medical expenses patients with the target disease, we will support a part of the medical expenses for treatment of diseases for those who meet the certification criteria.
In order to receive medical expenses payment, you must apply and be certified.

●Those who are subject to the system
Those who fall under all of the following
1 Patient whose current address of resident certificate is in Yokohama (if the patient is under 18 years of age, the patient's guardian's Address on resident certificate is located in Yokohama).
2 Those who have taken out public health insurance such as the National Health Insurance or Health Insurance Union, or who have received social security
3 Those who are suffering from designated incurable disease and meet the certification criteria ([Diagnostic criteria] and [severity] for diseases specified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare).
●Contents of medical care benefits
medical care benefits is limited to those conducted at designated medical institutions under the Law Concerning Medical Care for Patients in incurable disease (Act No. 50 of 2014).
Medical institutions under the incurable disease Act are medical institutions designated by prefectures and government ordinance-designated cities.

●Items that are not covered by the medical care benefits
・Medical expenses for injuries and illnesses not caused by the designated incurable disease
・Medical treatment at hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and visiting nursing stations that are not designated medical institutions

・medical expenses (prescription prescriptions are not covered by incurable disease), which is not a designated medical institution.
In addition, please be careful as it is not necessarily designated medical institution even if it is medical institution with designated doctor. )
・medical expenses and drug charges that took out of the validity period indicated on the beneficiary certificate
・medical expenses and drug charges for treatment other than those recognized diseases and associated with treatment (colds, caries, etc.)
・medical expenses and medical expenses not covered by public medical insurance
・Meals during hospitalization (except for social security recipients)
・Non-insurance charges for differential bed charges, sheets, diapers, televisions, etc. paid during hospitalization
・Amount to be refunded from each public health insurance under the high medical costs system
・Transportation expenses, labor costs, fees, etc. that are not covered by insurance paid to medical institutions for home visits, etc.
・Certificate fee (document fee) for clinical survey personal forms, etc.
・Costs of assistive devices such as glasses, corsets, wheelchairs, and treatment assistive devices
・The cost of beam, kyu, anma, massage and massage
・day service (elderly day care), home-visit nursing care services

●When presenting the identification card of the specified medical expenses (designated incurable disease) recipient ID at a designated medical institution
 ・medical expenses's window burden is reduced to 20% (20% and 10% are the same).
・The total amount paid by multiple medical institutions (hospitals, pharmacies, home-visit nursing, etc.) received for the treatment of designated incurable disease will be added up to the maximum monthly co-payment indicated on the recipient's ID. In addition, there is no distinction between outpatients and outpatients.
