We visited FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development), and WFP (UN World Food Program), which are United Nations agencies headquartered in Rome, Italy. All of them have offices in Japan within the Yokohama International Cooperation Center of Minato Mirai, and are United Nations agencies closely related to Yokohama.
We met with Secretary-General Zhu Donyi at FAO, Governor Alvaro Lario in IFAD, and Mr. Lania Dagash-Kamala and Deputy Secretary-General Stan Lake Samkanj.
It was a valuable opportunity to confirm Yokohama's contribution to global food and agriculture issues, and to strengthen cooperation towards the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) and GREEN x EXPO 2027, which will be held in Yokohama.
