Overview of Council for Water Charges in Yokohama City

１．Purpose of installation

Facilities such as water pipes and water purification plants, which are indispensable for delivering tap water, must be renewed due to aging, and it costs a lot of money for that. The cost of renewing the facility is covered by water tariff revenue, which is the main source of the water supply business. However, water rate revenues have continued to decrease since peaking in 2001, and are expected to decrease further when the population decline in Yokohama City starts in 2020 as predicted.
In order to stably deliver safe water even in such a severe situation, it is necessary to consider the future of water rates, etc., so a council consisting of water supply companies and corporate management experts was established in April 2018. Did.
