Summary of Yokohama City Water Charges

１．Purpose of installation

Facilities such as water pipes and water purification plants, which are indispensable for delivering tap water, need to be renewed because they are aging, which costs a lot of money. The cost of renewing the facility is covered by water tariff revenue, which is the main source of revenue for the water supply business. However, water tariff revenue has continued to decrease after peaking in 2001, and is expected to decrease further when the population declines in Yokohama begins in 2020 as expected.
In order to stably deliver safe water even in such severe situations, it is necessary to consider the future of water rates, etc., so a council consisting of water utilities and corporate management experts was established in April 2018 Did.
