The Nishiya Water Purification Plant uses Sagamiko as its water source. Founded in 1915, the water purification capacity at that time was 73,360 m3 per day. After that, several remodelings were carried out, and with the completion of the 8th expansion work in 1980, the current water purification capacity has reached 356,000 m3 per day (about 1.1 cups of Yokohama Stadium). The purified water is supplied mainly to Tsurumi, Kanagawa, West, Naka, South, and Hodogaya wards.

Mechanisms of Water Treatment Plant
This is where Sagamiko raw water is first to arrive at the water purification plant. The amount of water is adjusted here and sent to the sinking pond.
Agglomerator (poly aluminum chloride) is injected into the raw water, and the suspended matter becomes a large particle lump (flock) and settles down.
Fine suspended matter that has not been removed in the sinking pond are removed through a layer of sand and gravel.
Tap water is stored and the amount of water is adjusted according to water demand. In addition, the upper part of the No. 3 Reservoir is lent to Yokohama FC as a soccer ground.
This water tank is used to clean the filter pond.
(water storage capacity: 1,000 m3)
The wastewater after the water purification process is concentrated and separated into water and sludge by a dehydrator. In addition, the wastewater treatment pond is covered to generate solar power.
We are conducting research on new water purification treatment technology.
Four reservoirs, one reservoir water purification Inoue house, and one distribution reservoir water distribution Inoue house built in 1915 became registered cultural properties of the country in June 1997.
A drinking fountain has been set up so that visitors to the water purification plant can drink freshly made water.
